Matchplay 2017 Terms and Conditions

  1. You must be over eighteen on the first day of your chosen event to enter any golf event listed on this website, proof of age may be required.
  2. All matches will be played with three quarters handicap allowance for all golfers .
  3. Tee boxes for matches are as follows , If your club has 3 tees you play from the middle tee box .If your club has only 2 tee boxes matches are played from the back tees. Ladies play from the ladies tees. All matches will be played on the mens card using the mens indexes . Ladies have advantage of distance only .
  4. Entries will be accepted only from Amateur male or Female Golfers with a handicap of 24 or lower. Proof of your handicap will be required.
  5. Handicaps are fixed for the duration of the competition.Handicap certificate must be produced before each match . Handicap certificates must be dated no earlier than May 1st 2017 . If your handicap is cut at any stage during the competition, you must play off the lower handicap, and provide a cert to match your lower handicap.If your handicap increases you are NOT permitted to use the increased handicap for the duration of the competition.Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  6. The term ‘Entrant’ and ‘Entrants’ means ‘you’ the player who is named on the entry form in the Irish Open Match Play 2017.
  7. The term ‘County’ means one of the 32 counties in Ireland in which your home club resides.
  8. Each entrant can enter a singles and/or doubles matchplay for one County only, Entrants are not permitted to enter Matchplay’s in more than one County.
  9. The registration fee is for your place in the 2017 Irish Open Match Play only. This fee is non refundable/ transferable. If you are unable to play or for any reason wish to cancel, this will result in the loss of your payment and place in the event.
  10. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that they are available to complete the matchplay in the time frame given and clearly advertised on our website. For 2017 all County matches must be completed by 1st September with Grand Semi finals scheduled for mid September and the Grand Finals a week later .The Televised Grand finals will be hosted in Druids Heath.
  11. In the event of extreme weather (lightning, wind or rain) causing delays in play or stoppages it will be endeavoured to complete the full 18 holes and play off. If this is not possible the event will be played to a shortened format (comprising of as many holes as the final group complete, or a set number of holes, set out by the organizers on the day).
  12. In the event of a shortened format of play, the play off may also be reduced/adapted.
  13. IONA Golf Ltd reserve the right to refuse entry of any entrant into the event.
  14. Any prizes issued are non-transferrable.
  15. We reserve the right to withdraw any entrant from our events without prior/advance notice. If applicable refunds will be issued in such cases.
  16. Any golfer whose handicap is lower at the time of the Grand finals than when they first entered the competition, will play off their lower handicap for the Finals.Golfers who’s handicap dropped during the duration of the county matches will play with their lowest handicap during that period at the Grand Finals.Golfers may not play off a higher handicap at the Grand finals .
  17. Handicap certificates must be submitted to the Irish Open Matchplay office via info@irishopenmatchplay.ie for all finalists no later than one week before the date set for the Grand Finals. All handicaps of finalists will be checked and verified with the GUI registered Clubs involved, any discrepancies will result in omission from the finals.You must have a minimum of 5 qualifying cards from your club in order for your handicap to be recognised.
  18. Any golfer/golfers who qualified for the Grand Finals in the previous year and progressed past round one will have their handicap reduced by 3 shots for the duration of the Finals in 2017.
  19. Any golfer who progresses at the Grand finals and is unable to participate in the following round will be disqualified and a walkover given to their opponent.
  20. You agree that any images or media recorded by IONA Golf Ltd can be used in any way by IONA Golf Ltd and can be assigned to a third party of IONA Golf Ltd’s choosing.
